Yes, The MCU's Captain Marvel Can Move Planets
Spoilers ahead for Avengers: Infinity War.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in flux right now, and the possibilities seem endless. Avengers: Infinity War brought all of the shared universe's major characters together for an epic battle against Josh Brolin's Thanos, and half of the galaxy was wiped out with the snap of a finger. It's currently unclear how the surviving heroes will turn things around, although smart money says that Brie Larson's Captain Marvel will be a key player. The character's introduction was teased in the post credits scene of Infinity War, and she's seems like the most powerful MCU hero yet. As Larson tells it, she may be stronger than we even imagined.
She's so, so strong. She can move planets!
And just like that, Thanos doesn't seem quite as terrifying. Because while he was able to destroy a moon and use it as a projectile in the epic battle on Titan, Captain Marvel could have moved Thanos' entire home planet. And with the OG Avengers still around to help kick ass, Avengers 4 suddenly got even more exciting.
Brie Larson's comments to E! about Captain Marvel's strength is enough to get any self respecting fan boy excited. Part of the fun of superhero movies is finally seeing your favorite hero's powers in live-action, and Captain Marvel is going to bring a scale that we haven't seen much in the MCU. Thor and Hulk have typically been the muscle of The Avengers, although they were both easily tossed aside by Thanos in Infinity War's opening scene. Captain Marvel will make history as the first female solo film of the franchise, but it'll also open new doors of possibilities for superpowers.
Anticipation for Captain Marvel has slowly been building, as Brie Larson was announced as the title character nearly two years ago, long before filming the blockbuster would happen. Production for Captain Marvel is on now, so Larson obviously has a much more intimate feel for Carol Danvers and her abilities. And Captain Marvel's intense super strength is just the tip of the iceberg.
In addition to super strength, Captain Marvel typically has a bevy of other super powers. She's near invulnerable and has super speed, flight, and the ability to absorb and project energy through her hands. We'll see how Carol Danvers acquires these abilities in her solo movie, and how she uses them in order to save the planet from an intergalactic war. Samuel L. Jackson and Clark Gregg will reprise their MCU roles as Nick Fury and Agent Coulson. Additionally, Jude Law will play Carol's mentor Mar-Vell, while Lee Pace will return as Ronin The Destroyer.
Captain Marvel will fly into theaters on March 8, 2019. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
I also think he would make a great villain also. I would love to see Daniel Craig and Bale going to hand to hand (imagining Batman vs James Bond).
